Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Sifted All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
- 2 tsp Allspice
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 Stick Unsalted Butter
- 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1 Extra Large Egg
- 1/2 Cup Molasses
- 2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350°. In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour, ginger, baking soda, Allspice, and salt together.
- 2. In a small mixing bowl, soften the butter in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds. Beat the sugar and butter together, until smooth. Then add the egg and molasses and beat until smooth.
- 3. Gradually add the dry ingredients until a soft dough is formed.
- 4. On a lightly greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheet, place 1 tablespoon sized balls on the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar (optional).
- 5. Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until cracks begin to form on the top of the ginger snaps.
- 6. When the cookies come out of the oven, place them on a cooling rack.
- This recipe yields approximately 24 ginger snaps. You can roll the dough out and use cookie cutters to make fun shapes!
